Scripture Mark 1:21-28

‘Here is a teaching that is new’ they said ‘and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.’

Observation

The difference between Jesus and other teachers is that He is God's word made flesh. When he speaks he speaks with authority in the sense of an author - as in "father, creator, one who brings about, one who makes or creates"

Application

The teaching of Jesus is God's final revelation to humanity, listening to Him is the way to learn how to relate to God, and what sort of relationship God wants with me.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your revelation of yourself to us in Jesus. May I listen to Jesus' authoritative teaching and through that teaching draw closer to you.
