Scripture Mark 6:7-8

Then he summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs giving them authority over the unclean spirits. And he instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff – no bread, no haversack, no coppers for their purses.

Observation

Jesus prepares the apostles for their future mission by sending them out with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. This is a radical exercise in faith.

Application

I don't think I would be able to do such a thing. Maybe if is was in Jesus' physical presence, but it would have been very hard. Am I capable of trusting God to this degree?

Prayer

Lord, the courage of your disciples is inspiring. I don't think I can live up to it, but help me to trust you and go where you want me to.
