Scripture Mark 2:13-17

“Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard this, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”

Observation

Good news for all of us. Jesus has not come for the prefect among us but for the sinners. Given I am most definitely a sinner this is a great comfort.

Application

Even though this is comforting, it doesn't mean I should wallow in sin. Remember that judgement is a thing, and repentance is necessary.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for dying for me, for loving me, for wanting me to have eternal life despite my sinfulness. Help me to try and be worthy of your love, even though I can never earn what you offer me.
